Peggy V. Helmerich Women's Health Center Offers Free Baby Safety Clips to New Parents
Tulsa OK - The Peggy V. Helmerich Women's Health Center at Hillcrest wants to make sure their babies are safe. Beginning February 1, 2006, the parents of each baby leaving the women's center will receive a "Baby Bee Safe™" clip to remind them their baby is in the car.
The clip is attached onto the baby's car seat where it remains as long as the car seat is empty. However, when the baby is placed in the car seat – after securing the baby in place – the clip is removed from the car seat and put on the driver's key ring. It is a simple way of reminding a driver that a baby is in the car.
Since 2003, more than 35 child fatalities have occurred nationwide as a result of a baby being left alone in a vehicle.
"Having a child is such a big change to a parent's daily routine," said Sandra Jackson, Chief Operating Officer of the Helmerich Women's Center. "This clip is a reminder for parents to ask: ‘Where's baby?'"
The Peggy V. Helmerich Women's Health Center is the most comprehensive hospital dedicated to women's health in eastern Oklahoma.
