BREAST MRI:  A sensitive screening used in addition to mammography to enhance detection and
diagnosis capabilies.

ULTRASOUND:  Using ultrasound for creating a detailed image to distinguish solid masses from fluid-

ULTRASOUND-GUIDED BIOPSY:  A non-surgical procedure that uses ultrasound imaging to find abnormal
tissue for biopsy.

STEREOTACTIC BIOPSY:  A non-surgical biopsy combining computerized mammography with a biopsy
needle to remove tissue sample for evaluation.

PET SCAN:  A Positron Emission Tomography image that is analyzed for detecting a cancer recurrence

PROSTHETICS  SALON:  The Fitting Room has everything the post-surgical patient needs for fashion,
foundation and sports wear.  Consult with our certified fitter and select the ideal items to restore the
body’s natural silhouette and balance.  Open by appointment.

OSTEOPOROSIS SCREENING:  Osteoporosis, a disease of deteriorating bone density, is a major health
concern affecting 8 million American women.  Bone density screening is important because early bone
loss can be detected, and preventive steps taken to preserve bone mass before fractures occur.

The Chapman Breast Center performs osteoporosis screenings with a DEXA scanner.  More advanced
than a conventional x-ray, a DEXA scan is considered the most accurate method of detecting changes in
bone density.
